CBM Aggregates is the construction building material division of St. Marys Cement (Canada). Collectively, the business operates as part of Votorantim Cimentos, one of the world’s leading suppliers of building materials. CBM produces high quality sand and gravel from our pits and quarries, to service the southern Ontario market. Our products are used to build roads, bridges, homes, high rises, schools, hospitals and world-class facilities such as the CN Tower and Rogers Centre.
CBM's Dance Pit was licensed for aggregate extraction in 1992 and extraction began in 1995. The existing pit encompasses an area of 44.95 ha with 41.33 ha approved for extraction. Currently, we are investigating the feasibility of expanding these operations into approximately 25 hectares (61 acres) of land to the east of the existing site. The project will extract a maximum of 750,000 tonnes per year which is the same as the current volume. Processing will take place on the existing site and all material will be shipped using the existing exit/entrance. There will be no increase in truck traffic leaving the site. Upon completion of extraction and processing, the site will be rehabilitated for agricultural use.
